DCA 09
I am getting ready to take Dax to the DCA National and I am so excited I am thinking that I should get some depends!! I am very proud of all the dogs I have bred and taken to DCA before but this time feels different. This is the first puppy that has come the closest to that vision of the perfect Dalmatian that is in my head…. Dax is the puppy I have done every breeding to get. He has it all for me…. temperament, soundness, structure, movement and he is just the sweetest most beautiful boy. No matter what we do at DCA I am just happy to be able to show him off.
I keep having these dreams where I am in for BoB and the judge points to me and Dax and says " Please bring the Winners Dog up front" ….. Needless to say I am not getting much sleep….. The dreams are fun and come high or stay home right! Dream Big!!!
I can't wait to see all my Dal friends… We laugh, we eat, we talk dogs …. Oh,just a couple more days…..
The Collie National and the Dal National overlap this year so while I will be showing Dax, Diana will be showing Soleil and Tirzah at the Collie National. I forsee lots of cellphone usage!!
I knew this was my boy by this age!!
2009 AKC Agility National
This was my first time going to the AKC National…. and THANK GOD I was only spectating. It was so high charged I can’t imagine being there and competing this year….a year or two down the line…maybe!
Masher and Daneen really made an impression. That little dog had 4 out of 5 clean runs and 4 first places!!! Masher’s times were smoking!!! In round 2 jumpers he beat EVERY dog’s time there … and there were over 900 dogs competing. Masher is just 2 1/2 years old and his first trial was March 22, 2008!!! Daneen ran Masher in 8″ in Round 1 ,2 & 3 and 14″ in the ISC classes.I am so proud of Daneen and little Masher!!! Masher took first place in 8″ and 14″ runs.
I saw lots of great runs!! There were a few drivey Collies and a REALLY nice black & White Dalmatian!!!
We had a blast!!!! There were so many nice people and all the CA people that were very supportive… it just made it all the more fun!!!!
Carol Minter sent us this video of Masher’s round 2 run. I can’t wait to get the photos from this event!! Course yards was 133 and Mashy did it in 23.98!!!!
Animal Rights……
The animal rights movement is very scary and filled with lies…. I think on the surface it sounded good but the truths and underlying agendas are wrong. Please do your homework before giving money or support to these groups. You can google ” the truth about HSUS and Peta” and read what they are really about and what they really do. I found this great site that helps explain. support animal ownership
I am a tree hugger thru and thru but I think that their agenda to rid the world of domestic animals is wrong….. Not to mention all the 1000’s of animals that are put to death in their care.
Extreme Sheepherding
This is funny and now I don’t feel so bad wasting some time on FB!!!!
Pierre
Today is the icky day 3 years ago that I helped my friend Diana thru one of the worst things in life…. the loss of a soulmate. Here is a link to her posts of Pierre.
Pierre was a loveable dorkus. He would do anything in his power to help you….. and most of the time his help was evidence that he REALLY thought OUTSIDE of the box.
I learned quite a few lessons having Pierre in my life…… some of the most important lessons had to do with relationships and how to treat your partner….. GOOD STUFF!!!! Thanks Pierre!!! I miss you.~jules
Changes to the standard…..
The standard as it is now and the changes I think should be done below…
Color
The four recognized colors are "Sable and White," "Tri-color," "Blue Merle" and "White." There is no preference among them. The "Sable and White" is predominantly sable (a fawn sable color of varying shades from light gold to dark mahogany) with white markings usually on the chest, neck, legs, feet and the tip of the tail. A blaze may appear on the foreface or backskull or both. The "Tri-color" is predominantly black, carrying white markings as in a "Sable and White" and has tan shadings on and about the head and legs. The "Blue Merle" is a mottled or "marbled" color predominantly blue-grey and black with white markings as in the "Sable and White" and usually has tan shadings as in the "Tri-color." The "White" is predominantly white, preferably with sable, tri-color or blue merle markings.
Eyes
Because of the combination of the flat skull, the arched eyebrows, the slight stop and the rounded muzzle, the foreface must be chiseled to form a receptacle for the eyes and they are necessarily placed obliquely to give them the required forward outlook. Except for the blue merles, they are required to be matched in color. They are almond-shaped, of medium size and never properly appear to be large or prominent. The color is dark and the eye does not show a yellow ring or a sufficiently prominent haw to affect the dog's expression. The eyes have a clear, bright appearance, expressing intelligent inquisitiveness, particularly when the ears are drawn up and the dog is on the alert. In blue merles, dark brown eyes are preferable, but either or both eyes may be merle or china in color without specific penalty. A large, round, full eye seriously detracts from the desired sweet expression. Eye faults are heavily penalized.
Here are the changes I would love to see in the standard… Add that in the sable and white they can be merled. And take out the word blue in blue merle in the eye section…..

HDOC ~AKC 09
Daneen ran Ella on Sat and their Jumpers run was pretty nice until Ella got sucked into a OC tunnel.
The Standard run was looking good until Ella got on the table and said "WAIT a minute… YOUR not my mom!!!" Then she ran out of the ring to look for me…..
Sun I ran her and we had a bit of a bobble on the weaves in the STandard course and the rest looked good. Our jumpers run was very nice!!! The end was not pretty but we Q'ed …. of course I videoed the runs on Sat and not on Sun. So that was Ella's third leg in Open jumpers!!!!! She is now Easy To Spot Oh My Heavens NA OAJ !!!! Here is her ribbon since I didn't take my camera on Sun.
Open JWW – 20 Inch – Judge: Susan McClair
Distance: 115 yards SCT: 33 seconds
Score: 100 (Q) Time: 28.14 seconds 1st Place
Survey handed out at Tom Coen SM meeting CA 3/21/09
Note that there are 5 lines given to explain keeping the standard the way it is now and 2 lines to explain why you would like the standard changed.
4-5 of the people on the Standard Review committee are against SM's and or against the change of the standard… level playing field from the get go????? I think not!
I do appreciate the time that Tom Coen took to present this meeting on such short notice. And it is duly noted that lots of time and effort have gone into this so far….. I just think that it is time to FINALLY bring this issue before the CCA membership and take a vote of ALL the members and be done with this.
