Ella ~ QQ # 11 6/26/11
can be EXHAUSTING!!!!!
We have been going non stop for the last little while. It can be a challenge to play agility in more than one venue. Seems like you are always chasing something…. points for AKC Invitational, Points for USDAA World Team, Grand Prix and Steeplechase Q's for USDAA, Double Q's for AKC National and throw in some AKC and UKC shows for conformation and rally points and legs. SHEESH…. I am not complaining… We are doing what we love.
We had just returned from competing in the WAO in England and came home and did 5 days of agility with 4 days of conformation. I thought this was a cute shot of Daneen and Harmony.
We are in a lovely motel6 in beautiful downtown Chula Vista, CA……. and i am playing with my new Xoom!
(I still have to learn how to put photos on my blog from my xoom…. I had to wait until I got home to add photos 🙁
Droid photo of Aiden on the bed.
June Bug was Best of Variety over specials and we got a Group 3!!!! I am still waiting for my win photos 🙂
Char got a major on her white mini poodle bitch rumor!!!
June Bug LOVES hotels and the snappy colored bedding!
I am so excited to be able to blog while on our adventures.
I don't have the insrtuction manual with me tho that does not really matter because I have never read an insruction manual in my life….. I am more of the keep pushing buttons til you figure it out kinda gal.
ok just tried to post a couple of photos here and I can't figure it out…… I just might have to go to the "learn how to use your Xoom" class 🙂
Ate at a place called Aunt Emma's Pancake House … or something like that.
The food was really good!!

This trip to England was FABULOUS!!!!!
We went a week before the WAO and stayed with friends and friends of friends 🙂
We went to a "smaller" local trial …. It had 8 rings!!! And that was a kick and a half!!! What a difference from our trials here in the states we are so spoiled here!
Daneen and Masher got in some good training .
We stayed at their friend, Polly's house and trained the dogs. Here is where her agility equiptment is. It was so beautiful!! The weather was perfect and all the dogs enjoyed running around.
We saw this sign on our way to the Tonbridge Show. I love spotting funny signs!!! They always make me giggle.
The little local show was HUGE!!! Here is a photo of the Que.They call certain numbers of dogs and then you go and get your que # and basicaly wait in line until it is your turn to run. They have no ring fencing and there is NOTHING on the side where the que is. Dogs are barking and pulling as they are waiting for their turn. We saw lots of training in the ring. People petting their dogs, picking them up and putting them back on the contacts , people running with toys and treats in their pockets. It was crazy!!!
one of the vendors was a plant person. I would be in heaven if we had plant vendors at our shows!!!
Daneen did some shopping for the WAO event. Every country decorates their stall area. It is really cool to see all the different countries. The aisle way is always so pretty and colorful! We put this flag up on our stall.
This was one of the coolest things I saw at this show. I would say about 90% of the exhibitors stayed at the show. They either stayed in caravans, trailers or they pitched a tent. EVERYONE puts up a "garden" around their set up. They show from there, nobody sets up close to the rings with crates, ez-up's or expens.
Some gardens were very fancy!
The food vendor was funny and when I ordered Daneen a breakfast burrito and asked about the bacon he said he would make it like American bacon. He basically cremated it 🙂
Pub food – We had a better time with the food this trip because we were with locals. That took the guessing out of most everything. It was a much more relaxing trip than the last time. Daneen was such the pro with the roundabouts this time!!!
We went for quite a jaunt to a local fish and chips place. We did LOTS of walking!!
These two and ALL their friends kept us company while we ate our fish & chips.
Not sure if Mushy is licking his lips for the fish & chips or the seagulls :0
OK… so EVERYTHING is WAY smaller in England!!! Their roads, cars, sodas, desserts and even their refridgerators!!!
We went to see the cliff's by their house. It was another hike 🙂 but the dogs loved it!
I was a little stressed at the cliffs because Masher is such a water dog he kept making noises and pulling towards the cliff to get to the water…… which was a looooong way down.
We saw this truck on the side of the road.
The Britt's have weird food!!!!!
Peter Von Dongen was the official vet for the WAO….. FUNNY guy!!!
Proper English breakfast….eggs,sausage/bacon,mushrooms,baked beans and tomato !!
Team USA !!! What a wonderful and talented group of trainers/handlers and dogs!!!!
Small dog team – Ivette & Zip, Daneen & Masher and Sandy & Quill
Team Coach Tracy Sklenar and Assistant Coach Greg Fontaine went above and beyond their call of duties!!! Thank you both!!
Getting ready to go in for the opening ceremonies, I turned and Daneen had put Masher's bandana on like a little old lady….. he did not look very happy 🙁
AHHH… that's better 🙂
Big smiles from them both after their second run of the event
Of the 7 runs Daneen & Masher ran they placed first in 5 of them !!!
These pints were more than needed after their oopsie run…. It's ALL good!!!
I forget what country had this in there stall. It was very cute.
Daneen & Masher's Gold Medal!!!
All in all it was a FABULOUS adventure!!!!
I just don't get it …… If you pay to enter your dog in a show…… Fucking suck it up and show your dog!!!!
It cost money to enter the show , drive to the show and to show up ringside and find out that there are ZERO points in your breed… SUCKS!!!!!
This has happened to me in Arizona with Collies and it just happened in CA at the Mission Circuit with Collies !!!
LOSERS!!!!!!! I just don't get it.
My friend has had this happen to her AGAIN just last month and her blog post about it made me almost Peter Pants….. I don't think I have ever read a blog post that had my mouth drop like this one…..
Ella was bitten by a rattlesnake this week. She has been through the rattlesnake avoidance training before but since the trainer died last year we didn't do a refresher. I have seen my other dogs who have also gone through the RA training steer WAY clear of rattlesnakes….. so not really sure what happened.
I went outside and saw that Ella's lip was drooping and she was swollen around her throat. We brought her in and found one small pin prick on her lip. We gave her a benedryl and put her in a crate then went out to check the yards.
Sure enough there was a 2 1/2 foot rattlesnake. Daneen shot it and ran Ella to the vet. I had to chop it's head off and throw it away 🙁
Ella was put on IV's and antibiotics. They have the anti venom there at the vets but it was felt that she did not need it. Many adult rattlesnake regulate and conserve their venom for prey. They need the venom to kill their food so some bites are dry bites. Not sure how much venom Ella actually got.
I had never done research on the use of anti venom and just pretty much assumed that ANY rattlesnake bite required it. That is not the case. There are many factors that go into the decision of using the anti venom or not.
We are very happy to report that Ella came home the next day and her swelling is almost all gone. She is acting like her normal self.
I am very grateful!!!!!
